DIY Coffee Series May Recap

Last month Erwin Stierle – Executive Director for the American Red Cross in Loudoun and Prince William County – facilitated our first DIY Leadership Coffee Series. He opened by introducing us to Katie Harman, a high school football player that is breaking records all over the county. Her story was inspiring – not only to those in attendance – but to the girls in her community who have come to see Katie as a model for leadership and a willingness to try where few have before.

The resulting conversation was a departure from the office. It was refreshing to be among peers and be able to talk through the challenges and opportunities that come with being our own leaders. And we all agreed that being in the “middle” of an organization brings its own dynamics and motivations. It was also a pleasure to see others engaged – voluntarily I might add.

Looking forward to this month’s coffee series.

DIY Leadership Launches Coffee Series

DIY Leadership is launching its coffee series...and you should come!  Join current and future leaders as they share their experiences, discuss practical leadership ideas, and network over coffee.  Unlike other leadership breakfasts, this is free and informal.  Come for the entire morning, swing in for part of the session, or join us while we live tweet the session at #diyleadership.

Each session is facilitated by a rotating volunteer who selects a broad topic, invites a guest speaker, or shares an article or link to kick off the discussion.  Themes and highlights from the session are shared on our blog, The DIY Leader.

Interested? Questions? Stop in on the 3rd Friday of each month.  Sessions are held at the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.  Coffee and light refreshments are available.  Heavy on the coffee!
